International Level Crossing Awareness Day

Kudos to DAC on International Level Crossing Awarness Day. Please read following statement by Mr Simon Atterwell MIET, Director (Managing) Telecoms, Network Services at Network Rail (source: LinkedIn):

Today is International Level Crossing Awareness Day #ILCAD2020! My team looks after some 6,500 level crossing telephones which can be found at many of the c. 6,300 level crossings across the UK rail network. They come in different shapes and sizes but one thing unites them…they can all keep you #safe !

#NetworkRail has seen a change i.e. an uplift in people using level crossings since #lockdown began as people have sought new walks as part of their daily exercise. Some of these people may be unfamiliar with #LevelCrossingSafety, the speed which trains travel and the distance they need to stop. So here are three tips to #StaySafe:

Stop, look and listen – #trains are still running
Follow the instructions on signs – #LevelCrossings are individual and have their own requirements
Always use the telephones (where provided) at footpaths and bridleways.
